“I really do believe everything happens for a reason. From playing alongside lifelong friends (and my two younger sisters!) on the soccer field to feeling comfortable enough to make jokes in class, I chose to come to the Abbey four years ago and I simply know that this is where I was meant to go to college.”
This Past Week At The Abbey
FOCUS Missionary Wesley and Freshmen Liliana blew everyone away with the winning act of Abbey’s Got Talent: singing the Phantom of the Opera!
On Tuesday was the last Song, Story, & Poetry Night run by the amazing Agora “Elves.” Among the acts was this amazing original composition by Alum Conor’15!
We take Excellence and Virtue very seriously around here.
This Thursday we celebrated the 140th Anniversary of the Founding of Belmont Abbey!
To Celebrate, we had a Founders Day Reception in the Commons. Here President Theirfelder and Dr. Williams greet the Austrian Priests that were staying with us at the time!
In honor of Founders Day, Junior Cofield organized an Art Walk featuring student’s artwork, including an amazing rendition of the Abbey by Senior Anja (who is off to Tanzania with the Benedictine Volunteer Corps this summer!)
Our Staff Takeover this week was Michael’15 who runs the Mailroom!
He was able to cover the exciting events happening on campus including but not limited to the Founders Day Reception.
This weekend concluded Little Shop of Horrors! Here Senior Christian poses with the R & B singing plant!
Here Mrs. Luce and the rest try to convince Seymour to sign their contracts.
Junior Sean as Orin Scrivello–D.D.S
Senior Nolan, Junior Peter, and Freshmen Patrick are once again playing “The Girl” by City in Color at the most prestigious of venues–in front of the Cafeteria. You can also find them at their other favorite venues: by the pond, in the music room, in Gazebo, or Belmont Abbey Snapchat!
Alumni Reflections
Rianna’15 recalls her time as a student at the Abbey, in particular: the people, the opportunities to grow in her faith, being a double major, working on campus, being heavily involved in theatre, and her study abroad trip to Ireland.
Creative Corner
Here are select excerpts from our annual literary journal, Agora. It is composed of short stories, poetry, photography, and artwork submitted by our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and monastery.
The journal is facilitated by Dr. Rebecca Munro.
