BELMONT, N.C. (July 5, 2017) – More than 1,800 of America’s best and brightest college students traveled to  Southern California to compete and establish their own Legacy of Leadership with the opportunity to win more than $95,000 in cash awards.

Held June 24-27, 2017 in Anaheim the Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) National Leadership Conference included participants from across the United States representing both Division I and Division II schools. Attendees of this exciting conference came to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in 60 business and business-related competitive events. Competitors included Rutgers University, University of Nebraska, the University of Texas at Dallas, Arkansas State University, University of Florida, and of course Belmont Abbey College.

Jake Glunt, Luke Glunt, Troy Gregor, and Jacob Miller from Belmont Abbey College received national recognition at the PBL Awards of Excellence Program on June 27. Jake Glunt competed in Entrepreneurship and brought home second place. Luke Glunt competed in Sports Management and Marketing and brought home fourth place.  Troy Gregor competed in Marketing and brought home seventh place.  Jacob Miller competed in Economic Analysis and Decision Making and brought home fifth place.  Finally Jacob Miller also competed in Business Ethics and brought home fifth place.

“Words cannot express how proud I am of this team.  This is only the second year of our charter and these students really stepped up and performed so well on the national stage against enormous national competition.  I am so thankful to be a part of this group,” said Dr. Brad Frazier, Associate Professor of Business and Phi Beta Lambda chapter advisor.

The award was part of a comprehensive national competitive events program sponsored by FBLA-PBL that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. For many students, the competitive events are the capstone activity of their academic careers. In addition to competitions, students immersed themselves in interactive workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit hall, and heard from motivational keynotes on a broad range of business topics.
