Hall of Fame Welcomes Three New Inductees

BELMONT, N.C. — The Dr. Michael P. Reidy Belmont Abbey Athletics Hall of Fame welcomed three new members on Saturday night when the bi-annual induction ceremony was held at the Haid Ballroom as part of Homecoming Weekend. Men’s basketball players Jim Lytle and Jim Mullin as well as Athletic Director/Coach Fr. “Pop” Martin Hayes, O.S.B., were inducted, bringing the total membership number to 26 individuals and two teams. Madison’s Late Heroics Lift Crusaders to Homecoming Win

BELMONT, N.C. – Aaron Madison found the back of the net with 8.3 seconds left to lift the Crusaders over Barton, in front of a large Homecoming crowd. With the victory, The Abbey improves to 6-1 on the season and stays a perfect 3-0 in Conference Carolinas play.

Norwood Paces Volleyball to Sweep of Mount Olive

BELMONT, N.C. — Senior Coreen Norwood had 10 kills without an error and Lydia Sale added nine kills, lifting Belmont Abbey to a 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-22) victory over Mount Olive Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas women’s volleyball action. Cassidy Bonito added eight kills and 33 assists in the Homecoming win. Women’s Soccer Battles Barton To Tie in Homecoming Match

BELMONT, N.C. – The Crusaders got some opportunities early, and the Bulldogs fought back, but each team scored one goal in Belmont Abbey’s Homecoming match this afternoon.  The Abbey now sits at 6-2-1 on the season, with a 2-1-1 Conference Carolinas record.  Barton is now 2-4-3 in 2017, and 1-1-3 in conference play.
