BAC Recognized with Top Honors at PBL National Leadership Conference in San Antonio

(July 10, 2019)—More than 2,000 of America’s best and brightest college students traveled to Texas to Create. Lead. Inspire. as they competed for the opportunity to win more than $114,000 in cash awards.

The Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) National Leadership Conference was held June 24–27 in San Antonio. Participants from across the United States attended this exciting conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in 60 business and business-related competitive events. 

Luke Glunt, Chandler Echols, Jimmy Hartley, Jillian Culbertson, and Taylor McEachern from Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, NC received national recognition at the PBL Awards of Excellence Program on June 27. Glunt competed in Contemporary Sports Issues and brought home second place. Glunt also competed in Organizational Behavior and achieved fourth place.  Echols competed in Retail Management and was ranked ninth in a competitive field of entries. Hartley competed in Impromptu Speaking and brought home sixth place. Hartley and Culbertson competed in the team event Strategic Analysis and Decision Making and together were runners up for the final prize, ranking second overall. McEachern competed in Sales Presentation and won ninth place.

“Words cannot express how overjoyed I am with this year’s Belmont Abbey PBL team.  The students worked hard to earn a spot to compete on the national stage, and they did so well.  These awards reflect hard work of the students, as well as dedicated faculty who have taught them,” said Dr. Bradford R. Frazier, Associate Professor of Business and PBL Chapter Co-Advisor.

The award was part of a comprehensive national competitive events program sponsored by FBLA-PBL that recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. For many students, the competitive events are the capstone activity of their academic careers. In addition to competitions, students immersed themselves in interactive workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit hall, and heard from motivational keynotes on a broad range of business topics.
