The computer studies department offers three minors where you will:
- Build proficiency in essential everyday applications like Microsoft Word and Excel
- Introduce yourself to cyber security, programming, and web design with classes that cover C++, Python, SQL, and HTML

A Computer Studies Minor prepares you to use computers in engineering, the sciences and mathematics as well as for graduate studies in computer science, if you combine the Computer Studies Minor with a mathematics degree.

Program Requirements:
The minor in Information Systems is designed for students who want to understand, analyze, specify, use, or manage computer-based information systems without necessarily needing extensive training in computer programming. Although these students typically major in Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Sport Management, or Education, students from any major are welcome to minor in IS.

A grade of “C-” (1.67) or better must be earned in all courses required for any minor in the department. Students should consult with the Department Chair and complete an official declaration of minor form as early as is possible.
It is the student’s responsibility to see that all degree requirements for graduation are fulfilled.
The minor in Cyber Security is designed for students who want to develop skills and knowledge that are needed to understand, analyze, troubleshoot, and address the cyber threats to computer networks, databases, and the society-at-large. Although such students typically major in Criminal Justice, students from any major are welcome to minor in CYBR.
